Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has decided to quit when
his contract expires this summer after being left feeling hurt over what
he feels is a derisory contract offer from the Gunners, according to the Daily Star.
Sagna's negotiations over a new deal have rumbled on for the past
with six months with no sign of an agreement between Arsenal and the
French international, who is also free to discuss with other clubs ahead
of a potential summer switch.
The 31-year-old wants his loyalty to Arsenal rewarded with a
three-year contract on wages of £100,000-a-week, plus a hefty signing on
fee, but Gunners chiefs have so far only put forward a package worth
£75,000-a-week for two seasons.
A source close to Sagna is
reported by The Daily Star
as insisting his chances of penning fresh terms with Arsenal are now
dead in the water, stating: "He will leave the club 100 per cent - there
is no way he will stay.
"He feels very heartbroken, disgusted and disrespected by the board
and the offers they are making, after being so loyal to the club for so
many years.
"Now his focus will be to help his team-mates and the fans by landing the FA Cup and a top four finish."
Talks between the two parties have broken down and Sagna has now set
his sights on finding a new team in the Premier League, rejecting the
only concrete offer his representatives have received from Inter Milan
in favour of targeting another team in England.
Manchester City look well placed to take advantage of Sagna's unrest
and have the financial clout to offer the right-back a lucrative move,
plus the chance to link up with French international colleagues Samir
Nasri and Gael Clichy.
