Manchester United are planning to spend a portion of their £100m+ summer transfer kitty on Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to Goal.com.
The Red Devils have registered their interest in the 26-year-old, who signed for the French champions after completing a £53m move from Napoli last summer.
United boss David Moyes is expected to be spend big in the summer, regardless of whether the club secures Champions League football for next season or not, starting with the acquisition of the prolific Cavani, who is also wanted by Chelsea.
With Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez reportedly unhappy at Old Trafford, and Wayne Rooney yet to extend his contract with the reigning Premier League champions, Moyes is determined the secure the Uruguay international’s services in time for the new season.
While Cavani has scored regularly at the Parc des Princes - notching an impressive 20 goals in 25 matches - recent reports claimed the South American is not happy at the Ligue 1 outfit after being played out of position by manager Laurent Blanc.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line, Cavani has been deployed out on the right wing at times this season.
However, in order to bring him to Old Trafford, United would not only need to smash their current transfer record - but also match his astronomical wages, which are reported to be €8-10m per year after tax.
