Manchester United chief Ed Woodward’s hopes of securing a
world-class player to kick-start the club’s revival may yet come to
fruition this summer, but any plans to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo need to
be scrapped, according to French newspaper Le 10 Sport.
The source,
citing a report in the Guardian,
claims that the Portuguese superstar has no intentions of leaving the
Santiago Bernabeu this summer, regardless of his former clubs plans. In
the past Ronaldo has refused to rule out the idea of returning to Old
Trafford before he hangs his boots up, but it would appear that any move
back to Manchester will only become a possibility once he has finished
his contract with Real Madrid.
However whilst the idea of Ronaldo being brought in to restore order
with the current Premier League champions may be a little far-fetched,
Woodward is sure to be aiming for the stars with regards to who he can
capture.
United most definitely need to introduce a host of new players in the
coming months and rumours have suggested that their executive
vice-chairman is keeping tabs on Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, whilst the
likes of Toni Kroos still remain firmly on the transfer books.
